Privacy Policy
The short version
- The game has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Your progress is saved on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud or Google Play Games, a backup copy is kept in your own account there so you can restore it later. It never comes to our servers.
- Gameplay analytics and personalized ads only switch on if you choose Accept on the privacy screen. Choose Limit data use and they stay off. Either way you can play everything.
- Players under 13 get no analytics and only child-directed ads. Players under 18 never get personalized ads or tracking.
- You can change your choice or delete your data at any time in the game's Settings.

1. Who we are
Iron Mantle is published by Ctrl Alt Defeat Studio LLC ("we", "us"), a Washington limited liability company. We decide how the information described here is used, which makes us the "controller" or "business" under privacy laws.
Contact us at support@ctrlaltdefeatstudio.com. For privacy requests, please put "Privacy" in the subject line so it reaches our data protection officer. Our mailing address is Ctrl Alt Defeat Studio LLC, 522 W Riverside Ave, Ste N, Spokane, WA 99201-0581, USA.
2. What we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Birth year from the age question on first launch | Always asked once | To give younger players the right experience. The birth year stays on your device. If analytics is on, our analytics provider receives only an age range (13–17 or 18+). |
| Gameplay and device data: device model, operating system, language, country or region (derived from your IP address), app version, an installation identifier, and game events such as runs played, depth reached, items bought, ads watched and errors | Only if you are 13 or older and choose Accept | To understand how the game is played, fix bugs and balance the game, including testing different settings. |
| Game settings request: an installation identifier, app version and platform | When the game starts with an internet connection | To download current game settings and events, for example season dates and reward values. |
| Advertising data: your device's advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID, or Apple's IDFA only if you allow tracking), IP address, device details and how you interact with ads | When an ad is requested or shown | To show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and measure results. Ads are personalized only for adults who choose Accept and, on iPhone and iPad, also allow tracking. |
| Purchase details: the product, price, currency and transaction identifiers | When you make an in-app purchase | To deliver what you bought, restore purchases and prevent fraud. Apple or Google processes the payment. We never see your card details. |
| Support messages: your email address and whatever you send us | When you contact us | To answer you. |
Your progress backup. The game keeps a copy of your saved progress in your own account so you can restore it after reinstalling or on a new device: in iCloud on iPhone and iPad (when you're signed in to iCloud), and on Android in your phone's Google backup and, if you use it, Google Play Games. Apple and Google store these copies in your account under their own privacy policies. We never receive them, and you can manage or delete them in your iCloud or Google account settings.
Reminders. If you allow notifications, the game schedules reminders on your device (for example "your supply crate is ready"). They're created locally, so we don't collect a push token or any contact details.
What we don't collect: your name, email address (unless you write to us), phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, precise location or any account login. There is no chat or other player-to-player communication in the game.
3. How we use it
- To run the game: saving progress, delivering purchases, restoring purchases, and downloading game settings. (Legal basis in the EEA and UK: performing our contract with you.)
- To improve the game with gameplay analytics and tests of different settings, only after you accept. (Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.)
- To show ads that keep the game free. Personalized ads require your consent. Non-personalized and child-directed ads use limited data, such as the device type and approximate region, to deliver and measure the ad and prevent fraud. (Legal bases: consent for personalized ads; our legitimate interest in funding a free game for the rest.)
- To keep the game safe and fair, for example detecting fraudulent purchases. (Legal basis: legitimate interests.)
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax records for purchases and answering lawful requests.
We don't sell your personal information for money. We don't use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the game. We only work with providers that protect your information with the same or equal protection as described in this policy and as required by the Apple App Store and Google Play rules. We hold them to this through our contracts with them and their published terms, and they may use your information only for the purposes those terms allow.
- Unity Technologies: Unity Gaming Services Analytics and Remote Config, Unity In-App Purchasing, and Unity LevelPlay ad mediation, including Unity Ads and ironSource Ads. Unity's privacy policy.
- Advertising networks that LevelPlay selects to fill ad requests. Each network is listed here, with a link to its privacy policy, before it starts serving ads in the game.
- Apple and Google, which process in-app purchases, and keep your progress backup in your iCloud or Google account, under their own privacy policies.
- Google (Google Workspace), which hosts our support email, and Cloudflare, which hosts and protects this website.
- Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply).
Under California law, sharing an advertising identifier for personalized ads can count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. Choosing Limit data use in the game opts you out of it.
5. Your choices
- Privacy choices: open Settings → Privacy Choices in the game to switch between Accept and Limit data use at any time.
- Delete my data: Settings → Delete My Data asks our analytics provider to erase the gameplay data collected from your device and switches collection off. Your progress and purchases stay on your device.
- iPhone and iPad tracking: allow or deny tracking in the system prompt, and change it later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android advertising ID: reset or delete it in your phone's Settings (usually Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Notifications: switch off Settings → Reminders in the game, or turn off notifications in your phone's settings.
- Uninstalling the game removes everything stored on your device.
6. Children and teens
Iron Mantle is made for players aged 13 and up, and it isn't directed to children. Because younger players may still find it, the game asks for a birth year on first launch. Anyone who could be 13 or younger in the current year is treated as a child:
- no gameplay analytics is collected;
- the tracking prompt is never shown;
- only non-personalized, child-directed ads are shown;
- special offers aren't shown.
Players under 18 never receive personalized ads or the tracking prompt, even if they choose Accept. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
7. How long we keep it
- Raw analytics events are deleted automatically after 13 months. Aggregated statistics that don't identify anyone, such as daily player counts, may be kept longer.
- Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Support emails are kept while we help you and deleted within 24 months after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer to resolve a dispute.
- Advertising data is kept by each ad partner under its own policy.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, Switzerland, California and other US states, Canada, the Philippines, Brazil, Japan or South Korea), you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold and get a copy;
- correct it or have it deleted;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing;
- opt out of the sharing of personal information for personalized advertising;
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
Email support@ctrlaltdefeatstudio.com with the subject "Privacy". We reply within 30 days (45 days where California law allows). Because the game has no accounts, we usually can't link a request to your data from an email alone. Delete My Data in the game's Settings is the quickest way to reach the data linked to your device. You may also use an authorized agent, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
10. This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or advertising. If you change the site's colors by tapping Rusty, your browser remembers that choice on your device (local storage); it is never sent to us. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and protect the site.
11. Security
We use service providers with strong security programs, encrypt data in transit, and limit who can access it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the game.
